Paul Tep Im Sotha, the first Apostolic Prefect of Battambang, was murdered by the Khmer Rouge on May 7th 1975 along with a French priest, an Australian man and his Khmer wife. The site, 5 miles from Svay Sisophon and known as ‘The Land of the Martyrs’ is now a place of pilgrimage and each year in May, people gather from all over the Diocese to remember, honour and to pray for the repose of their souls. It’s one of the most important dates in the Diocesan calendar.
