Dear Friends,
Today we are on the threshold of a new year. Today is also the feast of Mary, Mother of God.
She is the still centre of today’s Gospel reading to which everyone -shepherds, townspeople, and later the Magi will gravitate. She ‘ponders these things in her heart’. She prepares herself for what the future would hold – both her future and that of her Son. She will be present at the important moments of his life.
What splendid Christmas celebrations we had! Each of the four Masses expressed the wonder and joy of the coming of Jesus in human flesh. A special thank you to the cool Catholic kids and their parents for the memorable Mass on Christmas Eve. Thank you also for your very generous Christmas offering and the many cards and good wishes. They are greatly appreciated!
Father James

We pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week: including Ernest Brown, Doreen Burton, Philip “Charles” Byrne, Arthur Hodgson, Essie Riimmer, Freda Hodgson, Kate (Kit) Denton, Adele Green, Mahaslla Waller and Lilian Pycroft.
May they rest in peace.
Live Simply
Throughout this coming year our parish will take its inspiration from the vision Pope Francis has given to the world. He invites everyone to simplify their lives in the light of Gospel values and to be aware of our responsibilities towards each other, especially the poor, and also the world in which we live.
Father James and Deacon Ron wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year!
