Dear Friends,
Most people avoid confrontation. In the readings today both the prophet Jeremiah and Jesus are faced with opposition because of their messages. There are times when we too have to content with people who do not share our values or our faith. At such times we remember the words ’I am with you’ that God speaks to Jeremiah. Today’s second reading is St Paul’s beautiful hymn to love which is our most powerful weapon in meeting with opposition whatever form it takes. It is often used at weddings but it should also be the norm for everyday life for all Christians.
God bless
Father James
