Today we begin the beautiful season of Advent when we join with the whole Church in preparing for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. The diary for December gives details of Advent services and other events. This weekend we welcome Father Michael Stack who will be celebrating the Sunday Masses.

This afternoon at St John of the cross, Aylsham, the annual Advent Service of Evening Prayer – “Come Lord Jesus” takes place at 4pm. It is an opportunity for the whole parish to come together at the start of our Advent Journey. This beautiful service is for the whole parish and has been greatly appreciated over the past few years; it will be followed by refreshments. Do offer lifts to those who may not otherwise be able to go.
On Monday 4th December the Senior Citizens Group (NW) will have their usual morning activities followed by a visit from Marion of Haven Hedgehog Rescue. Could all group members, plus invited guests, please be prepared to stay on approx. 45 minutes after Marion’s visit? We have a special surprise……. Queries to Teresa on 01692 405007 or 07901 830327.

The first meeting for Confirmation Candidates and (for this meeting) parents will be on Sunday 17th December at 5pm in the church, at North Walsham, following the Carol Service.

Friday 8th December: Support Cambodia Open Evening & AGM at St John of the Cross, Aylsham 6.00 – 8.00pm to say ’thank you’ to those who have supported the charity during the year. This is a ‘rolling’ event so come when you like. Short presentations at 6.30 & 7.30pm . A hot supper available – pl confirm for numbers. Christmas Bargain Table. Free admission. St Helen’s Coffee Morning in conjunction with Churches Together is here in the porch 10.30-11.30am on the first Wednesday of every month except January. The next one is on 6th December.
On Friday 8th December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, there will be an evening Mass at the Sacred Heart at 7pm for the whole parish.

At North Walsham donations towards the flowers for the Christmas period would be greatly appreciated.
We pray for Rosalie Bates and John Booth who died recently and all our sick parishioners, Margaret Wynes and Linda Dawson.
We pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week including: Philip Madden, David Southwood, Geoffrey Gooch, Anna Taylor, George Pearson, John Wills, Priscilla Jarrad, Pearl Byrne and Joseph (Joe) Rose. May they rest in peace.
