To love God is fundamental to our lives as Christians. Although it comes second love of our neighbour is for Jesus inseparable from the love of God.
We are planning to begin classes for First Communion preparation on Saturday, 17th November at 2 pm in the parish hall. Please let us know if you have a child of First Communion age.
This coming week I will join other priests and deacons from the diocese for a retreat from Monday to Friday.
The death of Sheila Hall marks the passing of a parishioner who has been part of the history of our parish for many years. Her body will be brought to the church next Sunday at 5 pm. Her Requiem Mass will be on the following day, Monday, 12th November at 11 am followed by a burial in Stalham cemetery.

Next weekend is Remembrance Sunday. As this year we commemorate the Hundredth Year of the ending of the 14/18 war, in keeping with the whole nation, we will observe the two minutes’ silence at 11.00 am at the beginning of the Sunday Mass at the Sacred Heart. Try to be at the church in time to observe this silence in remembrance and respect for those who gave their lives for the nation.
In Remembrance. You will find in each church a Memorial Book or paper slips on which to write the names of your deceased loved ones; these will be placed on the altar during Masses throughout November.
This Sunday at our Family Mass, and also next Sunday, we welcome the participation of Chamrom, a young member of our twin parish in Cambodia; she is studying medicine in Phnom Penh and just starting her final year. She is staying with John and Hilary.

Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) meets on Monday, 5th November when there will be the usual morning activities. Following a Sri Lankan themed lunch, Anna Butler will show photographs and chat to the group about her recent visit to meet family in Sri Lanka. Many thanks to all who supported our craft Fair last Monday. £310 was raised for group funds. We are extremely grateful to everyone who made this possible.
An Open Morning at St Francis of Assisi School is on Tuesday, 6th November from 9.30-10.30 am. If you are looking for a place for your child in Reception Class next year there is an information evening on Thursday, 15th November 15th at 7 pm.
The next Eucharistic Service at St Helen’s, Hoveton, will be at 7pm on Monday 19th November.
Reverse Advent Calendar for the Norwich & Cromer District Food banks. They are very pleased that we will be taking part again this year. Simply donate one item every day for 25 days in November from the list in each church. These are items that the Food Banks really need at this time of year. You can either fill your own box or bag at home or bring these items to church and put them in the collecting boxes provided. Please return by 1/2 December weekend at the latest so that they can be distributed in good time for Christmas.
If you still have a Red Mission box, please could you hand it in to your respective church. New parishioners or others wishing to join our merry band can contact Sue Perrott, Maureen Keene or Peter Adamson.
Please note that the Parish, apart from Aylsham, will NOT be taking part in the Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Box appeal this year. If you wish to make up a box you will need to take it to your nearest centre.

We pray for Sheila Hall who died last Saturday; we remember her family and friends at this time. We pray also for all those whose anniversaries occur at this time including: Czeslaw Pelik, Helena Oakley, Bernard Robb, Olive Fuller, Hester Armstrong, Michael Reynolds, Rose Dunham, Evelyn Andrews and Peggy Browne.
