Dear Friends,
In today’s Gospel Jesus comes to visit the place where he grew up. The people had heard of the amazing things he had already done elsewhere. Now they wanted someone who would rescue them from their poverty and their subjection to Roman occupation. They looked for powerful signs of God who would be a political saviour. Instead Jesus spoke about the signs of God’s presence; of scattered seeds and mustard seeds. Where was God’s show of power and mighty arm in a tiny mustard seed? So they rejected him because they did not understand who he really was or what his message was about.
Following the Sunday morning’s Mass we have our Parish Summer Fete; now is the time to thoroughly enjoy the day, have fun and raise lots of money for two very worthwhile causes: the Sacred Heart Organ Fund and Dementia Awareness in North Walsham. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed in any way. We look forward to receiving cakes and plants this morning. Lots of help will be needed for clearing away after the Fete.
Raffle counterfoils and monies should go to Kay Roberts (St John of the Cross), Mary Edmonds (St Helen’s) and Hilary Bolger (Sacred Heart).
