Dear Friends,
Today’s reading from Isaiah is addressed to a people in exile from their home and culture. It assures them of the maternal care of God: ‘Like a son comforted by his mother will I comfort you’. In the Gospel reading the mission of the 72 disciples has two meanings. It shows that the announcing of the kingdom of God was not confined to the 12 apostles. Also the number 72 is significant as it was thought that this was the number of the pagan nations.
A date for your diary! On Saturday, 27th July, there will be a Parish Summer Party from midday to 3 pm. Weather permitting there will be tables and chairs in the garden with hot dogs, salads, puddings and a bar. My family will be here for a long weekend. This time two of my nieces with be there with their children (all under 5!). Just a fun, relaxed time that brings together all three of our communities.
God bless
Father James
Next Sunday is Sea Sunday and there will be a retiring collection for the Apostleship of the Sea.

Looking ahead to our Parish Summer Party on Saturday 27th July, (midday to 3pm), to go with the hot dogs we will need salads and puddings. To get an idea of what parishioners can kindly provide, there are lists put out to sign in our church porches. Also, it would be appreciated if a few volunteer helpers who would take charge of the side dishes and the hall kitchen in general, plus one or two who could keep an eye on the tables, could add their names & tel. nos. to the lists.
