Today’s Gospel reading is not just about catching fish. Luke deliberately links the calling iof the first disciples and a miraculous catch of fish. Having first been caught by the word of Jesus they will become fishers of men and women. This has been the mission of the church since Pentecost –to put out into the deep waters of the world announcing the good news of the Gospel. We all have a place in this mission. Having been ‘caught’ by the Lord and gathered into a community of faith we joyfully live that faith on a daily basis and in doing so bear witness to the divine call.
Fr James

With many apologies from the office, a belated thanks from Frances Hall of St Helen’s whose ninetieth birthday was a few days before Christmas.
Frances would like to thank Fr Peter for the two Masses said to celebrate her ninety years. She also wishes to thank the many parishioners for the beautiful bouquet of flowers and for the many cards which she received at that time.
It is with great sadness that we hear of the death of a much loved and exceptionally active, motivated, member of our parish for many years, at the Sacred Heart, Angela Sandell. Two or three years ago she and her husband Alan moved to Sheringham where also she shared her many talents, and became particularly involved with the work of the SVP. She is sadly missed. Her funeral is on Friday 7th March at St Joseph’s, Sheringham.
We pray for our sick parishioners: Matt Butler, Frances Palman, Mary Bell, Celia Cooper, Marie Barton, Margaret Larkins, Maria Halsey, Joan Macnamara, Richard Skelton, Teresa Fitzmaurice, Joan Gale, Bernadette Saunders, Doreen Rockey & daughter Sandra, Pam Thornton, Inge O’ Toole, Mary Long, Mary Cockburn, Malcolm Akers, Frances Mack and Tony & Amy Heywood.
We pray for those whose anniversaries occur this week: Agnes Clark, June Trafford, Audrey Greenswood, Louise Woodruff, Rpy Wassell, Marion Yap and Beatrice Devitt.
