Dear Friends,
The third Sunday of Advent is called ‘Gaudete’ Sunday because it has the theme of rejoicing, especially in today’s first reading. We too await with joy the coming of Christ at the end of the age but also in the yearly celebration of his birth at Christmas, the first coming.
Journey in Faith. The next meeting for those who wish to learn about the Catholic faith will be today, Sunday, 11th December at 5 pm in the presbytery.

Today, there is a retiring collection for the Dependent Priests’ Fund (formerly the Sick and Retired Clergy Fund). Please give generously.
Please note: to celebrate Aylsham’s Patronal Feast, St John of the Cross, Wednesday 14th, the 9.30 am Wednesday morning Mass will be at Aylsham and therefore on Friday the 9.30 am Mass will be at Hoveton.
The Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) on Monday 12th December will be going out for their pre-Christmas lunch.
Their meetings will resume with an AGM/Planning Meeting on 16th January 2017. Anyone wishing to come to future Monday meetings will be most welcome: please contact Teresa on 01692 405007.

The pre-Christmas Service of Reconciliation with individual confessions will take place at North Walsham on Saturday, 17th December at 11.30 am.
A Service of Favourite Advent Hymns and Readings at Hoveton is on Wednesday 14th December at 7.00pm and at North Walsham there will be an Advent Carol Service on Sunday 18th December at 3.00pm followed by a children’s party. Please add your child’s name to the list for the party.
Anne Griffiths would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kindness during Colin’s illness and subsequent death.
We pray for Wally Harmer who died last Monday: we remember his family and friends at this time. We pray those whose anniversaries occur this week: including Jean Gawthorpe, Mary Fogarty, Effie Krzyszton, Angela Holmes, Mildred Parker, Ivan Fisher, Mary (Lily) Smith and Teresa (Tess) Semple.

What a great response to the Reverse Advent Calendar project! A total of 72 filled boxes have been delivered to the Cromer and District and the Norwich Foodbanks. Many of the boxes had more than the 25 items suggested, so in all about 2000 items were donated. The Foodbank volunteers were delighted and very grateful for our support.
