Dear Friends,
Before baptising his cousin John the Baptist was unaware that Jesus was the Messiah. When he saw the Spirit come down and rest on him he recognises that Jesus was to be the Lamb of future atonements, chosen by God to baptise in the Spirit.
I am planning a parish trip to France for the first week in October. More details and costs will soon be available.

The Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) will have their first meeting after the Christmas break on Monday 16th January. In the morning there will be the usual activities – Computer Workshop, coffee and a chat. In the afternoon there will be an AGM/Planning Meeting. Anyone wishing to come along to future Monday meetings will be most welcome. Please contact Teresa on 01692 405007.
St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club next meets on 25th January. This will be our Seasonal Celebration when we will have quizzes, games, poems, a sing-a-long & a free raffle. We meet for coffee at 11.30 am, there’s a simple hot lunch at 12noon and we finish at 4.00 pm with tea and cake. New members are welcome; please call 01692 582418 if coming for the first time.
We are please to say that this year with money mainly raised from the sale of our plants, fruit and books, we were able to make the following donations of £50 each to The Anchorage Trust, Gt Yarmouth; English+Norwich; Stalham & Smallburgh First Responders; Bakhita House; Support Cambodia and Norfolk Volunteers.
Cool Catholic Kids (1-16 yrs) are now meeting every Sunday in the church hall with food and fun for all. Beginning in February (5th) there will be a Family Mass each month. Future dates for these Masses: 5th March, 2nd April, 7th May, 11th June, 2nd July, 6th August, 3rd September, 1st October, 5th November and 3rd December.
Journey in Faith. The next meeting for those who wish to learn about the Catholic faith will be on Sunday 22nd January, at 5 pm in the presbytery.
Introducing ‘Ignite Lite’. Whereas the Ignite Team is full-time, Ignite Lite is an exciting opportunity for people aged 16-30 to be involved in evangelisation in youth ministry as part-time volunteers as and when they are available. Margaret Larkins would like to sincerely thank everyone for all the cards, thoughts and prayers following her accident. She is now making a good recovery.
Please pray for John Gowing who is in hospital in a serious condition.
