Today’s Gospel is a fascinating story of an encounter that begins on a homely level and ends with a meeting of souls. It is also a classic example of evangelisation. After her meeting with Jesus the woman runs to tell others about what she has experienced.

Now that we are well into Lent make sure you have picked up the Lent leaflet listing all the Masses, Services and Devotions taking place over the coming weeks, events that help us on our journey to Easter. More leaflets are available in each church.
Stations of the Cross: are held at Hoveton on Wednesdays, following the Mass, at Aylsham on Fridays at 10.00am following the Mass and at North Walsham on Fridays at 12noon.
Thursday 23rd – Lenten Lunch at the Methodist Church, Aylsham at 12noon. Also Lenten Lunch at St Benet’s Hall (NW) at 12.30pm
The Senior Citizens’ Group (NW) meets on Monday 20th. There will be the usual activities in the morning – Computer Workshop, craft and/or chair exercises, coffee and a chat. Lunch 12.30pm followed by a talk by Mick James entitled “Glenn Miller’s Journey to Norfolk”. New members welcome: ring Teresa on 01692 405007 or 07901 830327.
Wine Tasting Evening. Friday, 7.30 pm on 7th April at the Friendship Hall, Aylsham. Father James is organising this event which is sponsored by the Aylsham Twinning Association but open to all. Mainly French wines, some from the Loire valley. Cost £10 a head. Add your name to the list at St John of the Cross, Aylsham (or ask someone from the Aylsham community to do it for you!)
The next Family Mass is on Sunday 26th March at 11 am at NW.
St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club for senior citizens next meets on 22nd March. Coffee is served from 11.20am: a simple hot lunch at 12.30pm is followed by a free raffle, games and social activities. We finish with tea and cake at 4pm. Feel free to join us. New members always welcome; call 01692 582418 for more information.
The Diocesan Charismatic Renewal Day. Learning about “Praise”: an enriching Day of Prayer, Teaching and Renewal on Saturday 25th March: 10.00am – 4.30pm at Bowthorpe Church Centre, Norwich, NR5 9AA. Led by Eddie Drozdziak, a long time leader in the Renewal. Drinks provided/ bring packed lunch.
Confirmation. Young people aged 14+ are invited to sign up for this year’s Confirmation course.
Bishop Alan Hopes will preside at a Deanery Lenten Station Mass at Poringland on Wednesday, 23rd March. Mass will be at 7 pm with Confessions from 6 pm.
We pray for Margaret Battigan and Alexander Whitwell who died recently; we remember their family and friends at this time. We pray also for those whose anniversaries occur this week and one from last week that was regrettably omitted: Ron Gibbs; Gerald Metcalf, Geoffrey Soden, Kathleen (Kay) Pearce, Henry (Dukie) Leeland, Denis Condon, James (Jim) McCartan, Ivy Cafferky, Lawrence Carroll and Herbert Coates. May they rest in peace.
