In today’s Gospel the response of Jesus to those who seek to trap him is to make it clear that while the ’secular’ and political may have a place in our lives the ultimate point of reference is only God alone.

The Journey in Faith continues in the parish hall at 5 pm today. This is for enquirers into Catholicism and is open to anyone else who would like a refresher course!
Today is ‘World Mission Day’ and there will be a retiring collection following the Mass for Missio (The Association for the Propagation of the Faith).
Still with the theme of mission, next Sunday we welcome Father Francis Ayogu from Nigeria who will do a Mission Appeal for the St Patrick’s Missionary Society.
The Senior Citizens Group (NW) meets on Monday 23rd with the usual activities in the morning followed by preparing items for the Craft Sale on Monday 30th.
CAFOD Harvest Fast Day. An additional amount of £124 is added to last week’s figures making a total of £1,039.38
On Friday, 27th October, Bishop Alan will lead a Torchlight Procession of the Blessed Sacrament from Castle Mound to our Cathedral beginning at 8.00pm followed by an All Night Vigil.
Support Cambodia’s Race Night is next Saturday, 28th October in the Parish Hall at 7pm. Proceeds go to the Rohal Microcredit Project. Last chance to buy tickets (£1), jockeys (£3) and horses (£5) after Mass today or call 01263 577784 or email via www.supportcambodia.org.uk events.
St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club meets this month on 25th October. All are welcome from 11.30 am onwards for coffee. A simple hot lunch is served at 12.30 pm followed by a free raffle, social activities and games. We finish at 4.00 pm with tea and cake. All senior citizens are welcome. If coming for the first time please let us know on 01692 582418, for catering purposes.
Samaritan’s Purse (an international charity) is again organising Operation Christmas Child (Shoe boxes filled with gifts appropriate to different ages, boys and girls). If you would like to take part you can download everything you will need before filling a box – www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/occ or there is a tel. no. 01993 770620 if you would prefer to phone. Boxes should be completed by mid-November and delivered to a number of collection centres (to be given later) or left at either NW or Hoveton by 10th November. Aylsham have a separate system.
We pray for our sick parishioners especially Margaret Wynes and Linda Dawson.
We remember Mr Greif and Elsie Hughes who died recently and pray for their families and friends at this time. We pray also for all whose anniversaries occur this week including: Adrian (Ted) Beresford Frye, Frank Taylor, Irene Przybyla, Henry Honey, Joan Weston, Anthony (Tony) Crouch and Peter Williamson.
