Dear Friends,
On this feast of Corpus Christi we celebrate the gift of the Eucharist to the Church. The second reading makes a clear link between the Last Supper and the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary (the Paschal Mystery). The Gospel reading tells the story of the feeding of the multitude. It shows that Jesus is the source of nourishment for those who follow him and who listen to his words. It is appropriate that we also welcome five of our children to the table of the Eucharist as they make their First Holy Communion at the Sacred Heart church at a Family Mass.
Next Sunday is another celebration. This is to mark Deacon Ron’s 40th anniversary of his ordination as a permanent deacon. After the 11 am Mass everyone is welcome to join Ron and Inge for a reception in the parish hall.
