Dear Friends
Today we celebrate the feast of the Birth of St John the Baptist. John is mentioned in all the Gospels as setting the stage for Jesus. He is a prophet in the Old Testament tradition – one who is called to speak God’s word. He is a link between the promises of the past and their fulfilment. He recognised that God was at work in Jesus and this he proclaimed in both word and deed. Hence John is a reminder of our role in helping people to recognise who Jesus is.

Today there will be a retiring collection for Peter’s Pence.
Next Friday is the Solemnity of SS Peter and Paul and is a Holyday of Obligation.
Today we have the Parish Walk – ‘Share the Journey’. After Mass there is coffee in the hall; there will be a cake stall, tombola & book stall to raise funds for the Calais Refugee Community Kitchen. The walk then takes place, 2-3 miles along the Weavers Way to Felmingham; we stop for our packed lunches and return to North Walsham.
The Senior Citizens Group (NW) on Monday 25th will be making their annual Pilgrimage to Walsingham. All parishioners and friends are welcome to join us (coach numbers are now fixed). Should you have missed the date for joining the group on the coach, please ring Teresa on 01692 405007 or 07901 830327. There is a £5 donation towards the cost of the coach.
St Helen’s 4th Wednesday Club for senior citizens next meets on 27th June. You may come for all or any part of the day. Coffee is at 11.30am, lunch at 12.30pm followed by social activities and games. We finish with tea and cake at 4.00pm. New members are always welcome.

Advance Notice. Saturday 28th July will be the occasion of “Father James’ Garden Party” – an event for the whole parish to get together for lunch ‘alfresco’ in the grounds of the Sacred Heart. Lists will be put out shortly for those wishing to come along to sign. A date to mark in your diary!

Both will be at the Sacred Heart church and everyone is welcome to attend.
Alf and Margaret Larkins would like to thank all those who helped with the celebration of their 70th Wedding Anniversary after Mass on Saturday. They enjoyed it very much and were touched by all the good wishes.
We pray for all our sick parishioners, including Mary Johnson, Joe Seely and Veronica Williams.
We pray for Jean Booth from Aylsham who died recently (her funeral will be at St John of the Cross on July 3rd) also for Jan Fitzer from North Walsham; we remember their families and friends at this time. We pray for all those whose anniversaries occur this week including: Rose Diamond, Arthur Scorer, Sheila Butler, Victor Kavanagh, Iris Sherry, Francesco Caffarelli and Kathleen Ives.
