Dear Friends,
Today we begin Holy Week, the high point of the Church’s year when we relive the central events of our faith: the passion, death and resurrection of Our Lord. During the Triduum we come together as one parish community to take part in the beautiful liturgies and to celebrate them together. The three services over Thursday, Friday and Saturday are really one liturgy spread over three days. If you can try to take part in all three.
Meanwhile today we relive the entry of the Lord into Jerusalem and listen to the story of the Passion according to St Mark. Our palms will be blessed and we join the people of Jerusalem in acclaiming the Lord as the Messiah sent by God.
With Holy Week and the Triduum just ahead the Services for the coming week, at the Sacred Heart Church are: Holy Thursday at 7pm; Good Friday at 3.00pm and the Easter Vigil & First Mass of Easter at 8.30pm – which really is the high point of the whole week. We should make every effort to join our community for these three great Liturgies.
The Senior Citizens Group (NW) will break for Holy Week and Easter resuming their meetings from Monday 9th April when there will be “in house activity”!
A reminder that the coach going to the Cathedral for the Chrism Mass on Tuesday at 7pm will be picking up from North Walsham at 5.35pm and Hoveton at 5.50pm: (it departs from the Cathedral at approx. 9.45pm). The coach cannot wait for late-comers so please be punctual. Cost £5: this will be collected on the coach.
On Holy Thursday at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7pm there will be the Mandatum (Washing of feet). May we please have the names, (if possible 4 from each community), of those who will have their feet washed and please make sure Father James has your name today (Hoveton – Saturday and Aylsham/NW – Sunday).
Taking place on Good Friday:
There will be a collection for the Holy Land Shrines.
