Dear Parishioners,
I would like to thank each one of you for extending a warm welcome to me in all the three churches. I am grateful to Bishop Alan for appointing me as your parish priest and giving me this opportunity to serve you. As I begin my pastoral ministry with you, I look forward to your support and generosity to be totally committed to the Lord’s work in all the three churches. May the Holy Spirit fill me with wisdom, strength and guidance to lead you to grow spiritually. May the Lord and Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, be with us all.
The main theme of this Sunday’s readings is the warning that the selfish and extravagant use of God’s blessings, like wealth, without sharing them with the poor and the needy is a serious sin deserving eternal punishment. Today’s readings stress the Covenant responsibility of the rich for the poor, reminding us of the truth that wealth without active mercy for the poor is great wickedness. It warns us against making money the goal of our existence.
Father Peter
