Dear Friends,
The feast of Corpus Christi is a particularly appropriate day for a group of our children to make their First Holy Communion. There will be 7 children at Aylsham (Madeline & James Boyle, Lydia Buller Long, Augustine Gedge, Hannah Keane, Ella & Meena Thompson) and 4 at North Walsham (Daniel Flack, Philomena Gould, Sophie Lev and Jude Porter). We keep them, their parents and families in our prayers.
Next Friday, 3rd June, we celebrate the patronal feast of our parish. Mass will be at 12 noon at the Sacred Heart church and parishioners from all three churches are invited.
On the same day the diocese celebrates its 40th anniversary with a solemn Mass at the Cathedral at 6.30 pm to which all parishes are invited.
Father James
Those who would like to lead the Rosary for this last Sunday in May at North Walsham please sign the list in the porch. There are similar arrangements for Aylsham and Hoveton. Leaflets on how to pray the Rosary are available.
Laudato si As you will see from the inserted leaflet this weekend there are going to be five sessions of discussions and reflection on the Pope’s letter on global issues that affect us all. These will be taking place in the Parish Hall, on Sundays at 5.00pm during the months of June and July, starting on 19th June. It is for the whole parish and it is hoped it will be well attended.
“Instructions for my Funeral Mass”, the title of a leaflet that was available to parishioners a few years ago. A letter from Cardinal Vincent Nichols very much supports the idea of Catholics having such a document in which they can leave their express wishes and instructions as to how they would want arrangements for their funeral to be conducted, thereby making it easier also for family and friends. Do pick up and if appropriate use one of these documents as directed.
The Senior Citizens’ Group There is no meeting on Monday 30th, it being the Bank Holiday Monday.
There will be an Organ Recital on 26th June in the Sacred Heart Church at 6.15pm – for the dedication and blessing of the new instrument: the last event to raise funds for World Youth Day.
A ‘Wine & Cheese Evening’ will be held at Rob & Clare Hardie’s home, Orchard Cottage, Newton Road, Hainford, NR10 3BQ on Saturday 18th June from 7.00pm to raise funds for St John of the Cross redecoration fund. All are very welcome. Tickets £7 in advance from Kay Roberts )1263 761697 or Clare Hardie on 01603 897609 or they can be purchased on the evening.
