Dear Friends,
CAFOD Harvest Family Fast Day – Friday 4th October. No one should be beyond reach of the love and support they need to thrive. This Harvest Family Fast Day CAFOD invites us to fast, pray and give so that they can ex-tend the hand of friendship to villages in rural Uganda which have been devasted by drought. Every day children trek miles for water risking their education and safety.
With our donations CAFOD will be able to install solar powered water pumps in these rural villages. Do please take home a CAFOD envelope this weekend and return it with your donation next weekend, and please consider Gift Aiding your donation if possible.
Fr Gavin
Work on the roof of the Sacred Heart church will begin on 1st October and last for about three weeks. Please note: the church will be closed during the week and therefore no Tuesday 9.30am Mass (1st)
Harvest Thanksgiving.
Just a reminder that on Sunday 6th October (next Sunday) in the Sacred Heart Church the Mass will be a celebration of thanksgiving for the Harvest within the Family Mass. Baskets will be supplied in which to bring to the altar the fresh produce you kindly provide so there will be no need of plastic bags. Produce will be sold off after Mass, the proceeds going to CAFOD.
Regrettably owing to unavoidable circumstances the planned Harvest Meal for 6th October at St Helen’s has been cancelled.
Collectors – Please note that for the next four weeks we need to take a Mass count in each of our churches and record the numbers on the sheet provided at the back of the church. Thanks.
