“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
The 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B readings highlight God’s healing and justice. The Scripture readings offer us an invitation to become humble instruments of healing in Jesus’ hands by giving voice to the voiceless, the needy, and the marginalized in our society. Today’s Scripture also invites us to open our ears to hear the word of God and to allow the Holy Spirit to loosen our tongues, so that we can convey the good News of God’s love and salvation to others.
Today we also celebrate the feast of the Nativity of Mary, a feast so popular and so loved by the people of God. “The feast of the Nativity of Blessed Mary is, therefore, a feast of hope. Mary of Nazareth is the dawn of our redemption. The memory of her birth fills us with hope.”
Fr. Peter.

Catholic Legacy Free Wills Service. Legacies are a vital one-off support for the church’s mission. They often make possible the significant projects that parishes have wanted to undertake for years. The diocese recently joined the organisation Your Catholic Legacy which promotes bequests to the Church, and has made available a free will writing service supporting individuals/couples to make their wills. There has been good take-up of this initiative in many parishes. If you would like to know more about how you can promote it in your parish, pl contact finance@rcdea.org.uk for details.
